The company Caterpillar known for its construction equipment designs has ventured into new genre and has come up with a phone called Caterpillar CAT B10. This all new tough and craggy smartphone from Caterpillar is shock resistant and can work even in extreme temperature conditions. Since, Caterpillar is into construction industry, its phone also seems like as if it is made from the spare parts of a bulldozer. The phone’s exterior is sturdy and powerful.
Also, the phone can function under water for upto an hour. This phone meets the IP67 protection standards so it can function even falling from low altitude. The device has 3.2-inch touch-sensitive display. Also, the screen is protected with Asahi Glass, making it scratch-resistant. The phone will give hard competition to Samsung Rugby Smart and Motorola Defy+. Its thickness is somewhere around an inch and except the screen; the entire phone is covered in rubber.
It has 800MHz Qualcomm single-core processor chip and its operating system is Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread which is later updated to Android 4.0 ICS. Talking about the device’s cameras, it has 5 MP digital rear camera along with front-facing camera for video calling.
Moreover, the phone is well-equipped with WI-FI, GPS and Bluetooth. The Caterpillar CAT B10 will be available across the nations in May 2012. The company hasn’t revealed the price of device but it is rumored to be 379 Euros off-contract.
